The Sabina Library had a wonderful first week of summer reading activities. Over 40 young patrons registered in the first week for our 2017 summer reading program "Build a Better World". This is a free program offered to the community. Children can read and participate in activities to earn stickers for their reading logs and a chance to win prizes.
The special activity this week allowed young patrons to build their own flower pots and take home a flower. We would like to thank all library patrons who donated empty cans for this craft. A special thank you goes out to McCarty Gardens who donated flowers for our young people to take home.
We are starting to receive entries for our LEGO minifigure contest for the month of June. These are displayed on the walls in our juvenile section as they continue to be dropped off.
Other activities that were started this week that will continue during the entire month include a virtual trip to learn about countries around the world (fill your passport with 10 stamps this summer for a special prize), a chance to challenge others to a giant game of Connect-4, and an opportunity to color a picture or write a thank you letter to be given to our local police department and fire department.
Please note that all activities are free, and you can drop by the library anytime during our regular business hours to participate.
